Due tolong overdue essential maintenance of the High Voltage Switch Gear that supplies the whole of the University campus, it is planned to have a complete electrical shutdown of the whole of the University Campus on Saturday 15th April 2006.
Work is planned to start at 9am and it is expected last for 8 hours. It is planned to turn the power back on at 5pm on 15th April 2006.
Please note that it is strongly advised that all computers and electrical equipment is turned off and unplugged from the socket outlet prior to the power going off, this will prevent equipment damage due to a possible surge current when the power is reinstated.
During the hours without power (as above), there will be no services to the whole of campus, ie water, gas and telephones will also be affected.
Also note that during the hours of 9am-5pm there will be no access to any building on campus except for the accommodation areas, but there will be no lights.
Computing service will be closing down all services starting at 6am on Saturday 15th April. The Service should be up and running by 9pm, if power is restored by 5pm. Please see the Computing Service web site for more information.
